Omron Healthcare HJ-105 Digital Pedometer Review

After using the Oregon Scientific pedometer with pulse meter (disaster - clip broke in 90 days, unit rendered useless) - I decided to go for a more utilitarian unit. Other than the batteries' demise, this unit has been quite usefull. The clip is stronger than my previous model; and testing with a 1 mile tracks shows the unit is off about 2.5%, which is not bad.
While a little sparse on features, it gives you what you basically need; # of steps; distance; # of calories expended. If you are looking for basic, good value, this could be your winner.

Homedics Body Composition Scanner Review

Bought one at a sports store and right out of the box the display didn't completely work.
Went back to the store and replaced it with another one an hour later and it worked well for a total of 10 measurements. Then the display on that unit went bad as well; can only see characters on the left hand side of the screen. Very disappointing. Great while it works - but good luck as to how long!

HoMedics SC-535 Glass HealthStation Review

I bought this scale today at Macy's Herald Square store after my Norelco digital scale of over 20 years finally died this weekend. I'll be returning the Homedics scale tomorrow. I get a different reading everytime I step on it. I've weighed 172 pounds (undressed) very consistently for the past five years. When I first stepped on this scale (fully dressed) it showed my weight as 176. Oh great, I thought! I've no doubt lost a couple of pounds. Then I picked up my 10-pound (adult) dog and discoverd that together we both weighed 190 pounds. So either my dog increased his weight by almost half since the last time I weighed him, or I gained 4 pounds in one minute. I then tested the scale on three different hard surfaces--wood floor, ceramic tile, and linoleum. I got different readings on each. I also got different readings on the same surface. The variations were about 5 pounds, on average. Clearly, I have no confidence in this scale.

Tanita Wireless Full Body Composition Scale Monitors Review

I owned this scale for a week.I measured myself every day for twice a day.Then returned it because it drove me mad.

It's pretty accurate as far as fat %, the weight seemed a few lbs heavy.But the problem here is in the software.What they dont tell you is:

1) its not mac compatible.nada.nothing.i had to run it in VMWare/Windows.
2) you have to run their app, click a button, wait for the scale to beep.get on it.wait for it to beep some more.then get off and look at the pc.
3) if you want it to send your data to garmin connect...you skip their software and *have* to have the FR-60 or the 310 watch from garmin (100-300 bucks more).you then click buttons on the watch then get on the scale.the watch talks ant+ to your mac or pc to get up to garmin connect.

What I wanted (and hoped for) was the ability to just step on this scale in the morning.Have it beep and log the data.I dont want to play with buttons or software.I just want it to seamlessly and silently log me when i get on it.

More so, if you have an Edge or the 405 watch from Garmin, this still wont work with Connect.You must have one of those two devices exactly.

For all this cost, its a lot of inconveniences.Get an 80 dollar segmented body fat scale and some pen and paper. Oddly thats more effective and less frustrating.

After several tries with faulty scales, I decided to go a little higher line with this one. It is well made and well worth the money. Accuratly does people and animal weight. I am not sure how accurate the fat and water scale is but I am guessing very close.
